P-day is finally here! I have been waiting for this since Saturday! Haha. We have started to teach an investigator in French. Yes, in French. Yes, I don't speak French, haha. I never know what he is saying, but I can pick out a few words. We have taught him five times now, and each time either gets better or worse, haha, I guess that means we are learning. With French, I have been learning a lot, even more than I think I am. Soeur Hughes told one of our teachers that he looked like Marty McFly from Back to the Future (which he does) and he said he gets told he looks like a lot of different people but he wouldn't tell us who. So we begged him to tell us. We ended up making a deal with him as a district that he would tell us the others if we only spoke in French for an hour. We did it and I learned so much in that hour! Since then we try to only speak in French for about an hour a day. I personal talk like a caveman though, haha. The first Sunday we had was wonderful! I love Sundays here at the MTC. My favorite part is the devotional and choir. Haha, yes I joined the choir here. I really like it. The choir director always says amazing things and he is so hilarious. We recently sang Joseph Smiths first pray. He told us that the song was actually written by a missionary, which I thought was really interesting. He also brought a book and shared some stories with us that others wrote about Joseph Smith. One of them was from someone in the government who didn't like Joseph Smith, but 20 years after Joseph Smith died he said that Joseph Smith will be the most influential man in our day and the days to come. I found that so interesting. Even though he didn't like Joseph Smith, he knew what kind of a man he was. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and translated the Book of Mormon. I am so grateful for him and his example to me as a missionary. We also got to watch the Missionary Broadcast which was amazing! We got to hear the Missionary Executive Council--including Elder Oaks, Elder Bednar, and Elder Anderson--and hear them talk about us. As some of you may know, they changed the missionary daily schedule, which I am so happy about! One of the reasons is that we can go to bed sooner and classes end sooner! Now we get to go to bed between 9:30 and 10:30! We also get to choose when we do what we need to do. We get to exercise more of our agency. They also announced a change in the key indicators. Now we only report 4 things to our president. I can't remember them unfortunately haha. Unfortunately Soeur Hughes has fallen to the French curse. She had to go to the doctors and get some prescriptions so we got to go on a little field trip to BYU. I am determined not to get sick! I am constantly putting hand sanitizer on haha. I honestly can't remember what else has happened this week. I ran into Sam Roper which was amazing. It is always fun to see a familiar face. Oh one of the counselors in my branch is from Mapleton and I used to clean his shirts when I worked at Allens Cleaners. I told them Ashlyn works there, so warn Ashlyn that someone might say hi to her. Haha that might be all. Love you all! Love, Soeur Glazier The French Zone. I am hidden. Sunday Temple walk with District District! Elders Thomas, Suisse, Melanson and Crockett. Me, Soeur Hughes and Soeur Thorn The Big Sisters! Well I have survived until P day!!! That's probably not too exciting since this is only my third day here in the MTC. Anyways the first day was great! I am super lucky to be in a trio with wonderful sisters. There is Soeur Thorn who is from Park City, Utah. She is Wonderful! She took three years of French in high school so she has been so helpful. Then my other companion is Soeur Hughes who is from York, England. She is also amazing. It's kind of funny how we have different words for things. She will say something and Soeur Thorn and I will just look at each other confused Haha! Soeur Thorn and I will occasionally say something in a British accents without even realizing it and Soeur Hughes will sometimes say things in an American accent! Haha I might be coming home speaking French and speaking English in a British accent. Class-wise...oh boy. Everything is French. French French French. It's good, but it is a little hard. I can pick up a few words, but not a lot. Yesterday we learned how to pray in French! From now on I can only pray in French, but for now it is mostly Frenglish. We are also going to be teaching a lesson in French later tonight. Wish me luck! The Soeurs in our zone are so AMAZING!!! Our first night they came by and gave us a box called the boîte de célébration which gets passed down to all the Soeurs who come. It's filled with treats and these face mask things, ha ha. The night before my companions and I stayed up a little too late playing with them. Oh, and I got to see Dad! I even got to go to one of his classes which was so much Fun! I loved seeing him and listening to him teach. I can't wait to see him later today with grandpa. This morning we went to the temple with our zone which was wonderful. We even got to have lunch there which was super good. Speaking of zone, I was given a little warning about the French zone. The Elders were saying that the French zones have been cursed because a while ago an Elder kissed six sisters. I don't know if that's true... but it does seem like that is some sort of "curse". Apparently all the missionaries in the French zone get really sick. Last week there was an Elder who had pink eye in both eyes, an Elder who was coughing up blood for a week and some more Elders and Sisters who were in bed for a while. They say we will I got sick. Pray for my Soeurs and I that we won't get sick!!!! Overall the MTC has been great. It's been hard but I am definitely learning. Everyone here is wonderful and I can't wait to get to know them better. I love you all!!!! Soeur Glazier Here are some pictures with the face mask things we got in the boîte de célébration. I'm on the right (just in case you couldn't tell)! We ate apples with the Biscoff I brought. We didn't know how to spread it all, so we used our cards. Hahaha
Hello beautiful family!!!! I am still alive and my companions are AMAZING!!!! I am having a lot of fun, but it is a totally different life style so I am trying to get use to it. I don't have a lot of time, but I just want to let you know that I am doing well. I will say more tomorrow on my P-day.
Love you all, Soeur Glazier Maddy is now officially a missionary. Only one of us failed at the no cry rule Maddy put into place before the drop off. 😭Her smile and wave as she walked off with her hostess was priceless.
