This week started with a miracle! There is a family that has been meeting with the missionaries for a year, and the dad said he wanted to get baptized! He said he finally received a testimony and he knew he needed to be baptized. He got baptized this Saturday and it was one if the most special baptisms that I had been to. The mom and the kids said they were not ready, but you could tell they really felt the Spirit at the dad's baptism. While I was sitting there listening to the talks and watching him get baptized, I kept thinking about how wonderful this gospel is. It makes me so happy! It also gave me an eternal perspective of it all, because I know that one day the mom and the kids will be baptized and they will be sealed as a family. Before the baptism we were doing a little cleaning in the church with some members. Soeur Ortiz and I were having a great time mopping, until we saw a lot of water. We were so confused, until we realized the baptismal font was flooding. We ran and got the elders and we were all in the water with mops, buckets, rags, and whatever else we could find to clean all the water up. The baptism ended up starting a little later than planned... Before we got to the church for the baptism, we were on the bus and this lady sat next to me and she said, "hello". My first thought was, "how did she know I speak English? I hadn't said anything! "Turns out she had met the sisters on the bus before. She was asking me questions about how I was liking it and everything. We then started to talk about families and how it can be hard to have a family in today's world. She was then telling me that I had it easy, because I belong to a church. Because I have a belief I am provided a way and I have help with all the other members. But she didn't have anyone and she had to do it all on her own. So I asked her if that was something she wanted. To belong somewhere and to be helped along the way and provided a way. She shared with me how she wasn't believing because when she went to church they always made her feel like she had to feel guilt. She felt like it wasn't suppose to be like that. I then testified to her about repentance and how it is something positive. It is a chance for us to change our life and become more like our Savior Jesus Christ and how grateful I am for what he did for me and the chance that I do have to repent. After sharing my testimony she said she had to get off the next stop, but she wants to meet with us and talk more. I am so excited to meet with her!! It was so cool to see the power of a testimony. Your testimonies are so powerful! Keep doing the things to help them grow! That's my week...or my Saturday. But the rest of the week was good, Saturday was just the highlight.
