This is something I never thought I would say about Nice, but it's a little cold here. When I was told I was coming to Nice I pictured a lot of sun and a lot of sun burns and sweating. But I have actually been bundling up a bit with all this wind. I have asked the members about it and they say, "just you wait". So before it gets unbearably hot, I will enjoy this sweater weather. This week was full of tender mercies. We had a lesson with an ami named T... at the church for the first time. So we gave her a chapel tour and we finished in the chapel. As we were talking she said she felt a lot of peace being there and felt a little out of the world. So we talked about peace and how Christ brings us peace. We then taught the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the spirit was there to guide us and to help her. It was such an amazing lesson! We will meet with her again this week and we plan to invite her to baptism. We met with another ami named Pr..., and she has been going through a hard time because she wasn't able to get baptized because her ex husband was still living with her. So we went to the lesson and she said she hadn't been reading the Book of Mormon, so we read with her about the principle we wanted to teach. The spirit was there too! She opened up more and she shared her personal experiences with the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is so powerful!! We also visited a less active this week. After giving a spiritual thought we helped her clean a little bit, and she complemented my hair. She then told me, "you look Amish. The Amish don't cut their hair either" after that, when she needed me to go somewhere she would say, "come my little amish" . Anyways, love you all and have a great week!! - Soeur Glazier We all went to a member's home. He had lots of hats so we put them on and took pictures and drank pina coladas!

I made it to Nice, and it feels like a vacation!! Haha, not completely, but close! It is so beautiful here with all the green. All the buildings are colorful, and the ocean is blue blue BLUE!!! Anyways, it was sad to say goodbye to Bordeuax and all the wonderful people there. So many goodbyes!! And it was hot that week, so I got my first sunburn of the year! Woot woot!! Then on Saturday I spent all day traveling to Nice. Sunday was a lot of fun, and I got to play the piano for sacrament which was a great way to hop right in. I met a few amis at church and they are all amazing! The ward is also so nice! They must be so nice cause their in Nice! Hehe
For P day we walked along the beach, then hiked up to these ruins where a castle used to be, had a beautiful view of the ocean, and ate a nice sandwich. Bonus! It wasn't hot and I didn't get sunburned! Once we were done and heading towards the church we got lost. So we asked a lady where we could find the bus stop and instead of answering the question she told us she was a member! She is less active, but she was so happy to talk to us. As we were talking she told us we were Super Women for serving missions. Anyways, she didn't know where it was so she wandered around with us and asked some people where the bus stop was. She asked this old lady and we all started talking. The lady said she was somewhere in her 90's and the less active quickly curtsied and said, "oh queen Elizabeth! " hahaha we died. Overall Nice is great and I am so happy to be here! My new companion is Soeur Ortiz and she is from Mexico, and now lives in Flordia. She is super cool and I am so so excited for this transfer together! Have a wonderful week! - Soeur Glazier That is some of the Tahitian that I have learned this transfer. It means hello!! Hehe! What a week!! Actually the beginning was very slow because I was still a little sick, so I had to rest a lot. But after Wednesday we were back at it! At the beginning of the week we got a referral from the Soeurs in Toulouse. They said a less active in their ward had moved into our area and was willing to meet with us. They told us she was really nice, so we were really excited! We called the number, and we realized that it was not a woman. We ended up setting a rendez vous with the person, and it was definitely a man and it was a very strange lesson. He would randomly say " Yee On " and laugh. We don't know why he found Soeur Yee Ons name so fun to say. Soeur Yee On also taught me and an ami some Tahitian dancing. We got to wear the skirts and listen to Tahitian music. It was a lot of fun! I feel like a spent the week in Tahiti. But that won't be happening for much longer because I am leaving the beautiful city of Bordeaux and I am going to Nice!! I am so excited!! It is going to be so hot, but it will be fun to be by the beach. So maybe it will feel more like Tahiti than it did this week! Nothing too different happened. Just some great lessons and we got to do some gardening! So have a wonderful week and the next time I will be writing, I will be in Nice!! - Soeur Glazier One of the primary kids in the ward came up to us and said we were Moana and Rapunzel. We were pretty happy! This week was a complete roller coaster, which means there was a lot of good things!
We had some great lesson this week where the spirit was strong. One of them was a lesson with the Albanian family. We had a lesson with them with the sisters from Albania. We were there for the lesson, but we were not understanding any of it besides a few words. It seemed like it went well. After we were talking with the mom and she said it was really good. And out of no where she said, "baptême. Anila, Behar Mai 5" (baptism may 5th). Soeur Yee On and I froze. We were so excited!! So they are now preparing to be baptized May 5th. We have tried to help them get ready for baptism, but something always went wrong. But they are ready now and they are so excited! We also met with a new ami named D.... He asked a lot of good questions that we were able to answer with the restoration. It went really well. After we were heading back to the church for another lesson but I was not feeling well. I kept coughing and my head was so warm. We got to the church and waited for a bit and I just felt terrible. After waiting for a bit I eventually told Soeur Yee On that we had to go back to the apartment. After our long trip we took my temperature and it was really high. So we had to call it a day and I slept. That Sunday we had to stay in again as I was still not feeling well. It was sad to miss church but I got a lot of rest which really helped. I'm still not doing very well, but I am hoping that I will be back at it tomorrow :) We also had district meeting this week, all the Soeurs took some lovely family photos for you to enjoy :) Have a wonderful week!! - Soeur Glazier What a wonderful weekend with General Conference and Easter! There is a very musically talented family in our ward, and they put on a concert for Easter. Throughout the week Soeur Yee On and I were trying to invite everyone we could. After all the calls, texts, and giving out flyers, we ended up having 5 amis come! And one of them even brought her daughter! The concert was amazing and it was all focused on the life of the Savior, and ended with song about how He was resurrected and that He lives. The spirit was there and I felt so happy that our investigators were able to experience it too! To top the weekend off, General Conference was amazing! It was my first time watching it all in French, and it was actually really cool. When I watched it in French I was focusing on what the spirit was telling me and not so much of what the speaker was saying. It was a great experience and I got a lot of answers to my questions. We also had zone conference this week. We focused on the convincing power of the Book of Mormon, the Holy Ghost, our testimonies, and a blessing that Elder Christofferson gave our mission. It was really good, and I learned a lot about what I need to do to teach with that convincing power. Besides that, we had a good week of finding, teaching, and doing what missionaries do. Nothing incredibly funny happened this week, but I did see a crow eating a dead rat... anyways have a great week!! - Soeur Glazier Exchanges with Soeur Bybee. Translation: Still Here Zone Conference
Spring is coming!! The flowers are starting to bloom and things are starting to pop! This week we had MLC so we got to fly to Lyon. It's always so much fun being back in Lyon, and getting to see other missionaries. At the conference we talked about how important it is for us to be helping our investigators come to church, especially to have them stay for all 3 hours. I love church so much! I am always looking forward to Sunday and to partake of the sacrament. It makes me feel so good, and I want our amis to feel that way too. We found an ami in our area book that hadn't been taught for a few years, so we called her up and she was willing to meet with us. In our lesson she was telling us that she has a friend who is a convert in Marseille, and her friend told her that us calling her was a sign. She said she doesn't know if it is, but she is willing to find out! Oh and church this Sunday was really good too! We got to go to primary with two of the Albanian kids, which was a lot of fun. And our amie C... came to church as well! It is so good to see people progress! We also had a family history activity and our other ami M... came with her husband. It was so good! I love the mission so much. All the little moments make me happy That's all for this week, see ya later alligator - Soeur Glazier MLC with the missionaries that came in on the same transfer. Exchanges with the Soeurs from Angoulême. This week started as an "euh" kind of week, but it ended with an explosion of blessings! Throughout the week we were having a hard time getting a hold of our amis, and a lot of them stopped keeping their commitments. Things felt like they were falling about and we were trying to catch it all with sticks. Saturday there was a baptism for a little girl in the ward and the Albanian family that we are teaching came! It was their first time seeing a baptism, so they were asking lots of questions. In that moment I felt so happy and full of gratitude for my Heavenly Father. Then the four of us missionaries did a musical number and I felt so happy and grateful that I get to share the message of the gospel with people. A couple of hours later we had a ward talent show. Us missionaries were the opening act and did a skit about the life of a missionary in France. I love the ward here! Watching all of their talents and spending time together made me so happy and blessed to be here again. Even though it was hard throughout the week, I had a ward family that I could be with to lift my spirits. Then Sunday came around and a member brought a friend to church! Her name is C... and we are going to start teaching her! She was doing some research about the church and she knew a member and was asking him questions. He then invited her to come to church with him and she said she felt like it was a family. So over all, I have learned that you can have family where ever you are. I am excited to be home and be with my family again, but I have family here in France too. Wow, I love the gospel!! Hope you all have a great week, and get ready for conference! Woot woot!! - Soeur Glazier Caught in a rain storm!
Hello! So we had transfers and I get to spend my 10th transfer with Soeur Yee On!! She is from Tahiti so I'm going to try to learn some Tahitian too, hehe. We actually are in the same transfer and we will go home together. It's been a fun first day together. Most of the week we were visiting a lot of people since Soeur Blackham wanted to say goodbye. It was a lot of fun, but everywhere we went they gave us so much food! I never went to bed hungry, haha. One member took us out to a fancy French restaurant and it was so good! It was the Frenchest place I have eaten, so I can check that off the bucket list. A few weeks ago I read a talk in the December Ensign that Soeur Blackham told me about called, "You Gotta Believe". It's about a college student at BYU who doesn't know what he is doing with his life and it is really hard for him. He was losing hope that Heavenly Father could help him. He felt like Heavenly Father could help anyone but him. One day he was walking in the rain and Jeffery R. Holland (the BYU President at the time) saw him and said he could give him a ride. While they were in the car, they were talking about it, and Jeffery R Holland said that his problem was that he didn't believe. It wasn't about his testimony, but that he didn't believe that he could have a miracle. It's such a good talk that you all should read it. It made me think about the mission and how sometimes (a lot of the time) I think the same thing. I believe every other missionary can have a miracle but me. But I need to believe! I need to believe that Heavenly Father will help my investigators overcome a trial, or that I can find his children who are ready, or that I can say what the Lord wants me to say, etc. I need to believe that Heavenly Father will be there through it all. Anyways, it is a such a good pick me up talk. So if you need a pick me up, I recommend you read it! Well, winter is coming to an end and things are starting to warm up in France! Have a wonderful week! - Soeur Glazier The Talence Crew The Last Sunday with Sr. Blackham District Meeting
Soeur Blackham and I were on cloud 9 this week! To describe it in a picture, Soeur Blackham and I are riding a wave with a cowboy hat. It was that exciting! To start the week off, it SNOWED! And I mean it stuck to the ground snow! We were so happy! But we ended up having a lesson in the snow since we couldn't get a member to teach with us. The lesson went OK. It was with a potential named N.... He just wanted to tell us the Book of Mormon had errors. It was so frustrating! We kept testifying that we knew it was true, but he kept telling us that it can't be true because of certain errors. We had another lesson with him in the week and we were planning on dropping him. The lesson started off the same as the last one. We were frustrated and he didn't want to listen to anything we said. After answering some of his questions we to read the introduction to the Book of Mormon with him. After, he understood better what the purpose of the Book of Mormon was, but he still wanted to tell us it was wrong. We then read some verses in Moroni 7 and the spirit of the lesson changed completely! He started to listen to us! And when we testified of the Book of Mormon and how we knew it was true, he didn't fight back. At the end of the lesson he seemed completely different and it was evident that he felt the Spirit and that he knew he needed to find out for himself if it was true. The Book of Mormon is so powerful! There is no doubt in my mind that it is the word of God. Other miracle! We were at the church and two ladies walked in asking if we could help them with genealogy. We ended up helping them with some members and one became a new ami!
And for p day today we went to Arcachon which is on the beach. It was so cool to see the ocean! We also went to La Dune du Pilat which is the largest sand dunes in Europe. They were so much fun, so enjoy the pictures :) I love the mission so much!! Hope you all have a great week! - Soeur Glazier What was the highlight of the week?? ZONE CONFERENCE!! I always look forward to zone conference. And this conference was all focused on the Book of Mormon and helping our investigators read and "liken" it. As missionaries we love the Book of Mormon and we need to help others love it as much as we do! To do this we had to bring a scripture story to life. So Soeur Blackham and I did a family home evening with an American family in the ward and we had their kids reenact the story of Abinadi and King Noah. It was so much fun filming them and helping them learn the story too. We shared the video at zone conference and then talked about how it can help our investigators. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about applying the Book of Mormon in everyday life. I know the Book of Mormon was written for our day and what ever questions you have, you can find them through the Book of Mormon. I have seen that a lot on the mission when we try to help investigators. There is a family from Albania we are teaching and they have been going through a hard time, and we shared the story of Abinadi and King Noah with them and they were really able to connect to it and find answers. So if you have any questions or any problems you may be going through, read the Book of Mormon and you will find your answer! Another cool experience was when I was on exchange with Soeur Leslie. We were walking to pass an ami, and on the way we passed an ancient ami and I had the thought we should pass him. But I had never meet him before! So I asked Soeur Leslie what we should do and right away she said we needed to pass the ancient ami. So we did and he was there! We talked to him for a while and he said he would be really happy if we could come back. We were both so happy afterward that we followed the prompting. Some random things this week: Soeur Blackham stepped on a dead bird. Apparently Imagine Dragons is coming to Bordeaux next month!! I have had some really good pastries this week. And I love the Book of Mormon! That's all for this week folks! - Soeur Glazier Zone Conference |
