What a week!! We had lot's of time to eat good food. We went to some cafe's and had some ice cream too! Our amis are doing well too! We are working with a lot of them on receiving an answer to their prayers. From trying to help them I have been learning a lot about how I need to have the faith that they will receive an answer as well. It's important for them to have faith, but when we extend the invitation to pray and to read the Book of Mormon to know if the things we have taught is true I also need to believe in Moroni's promise.
I can't remember if I mentioned it last time, but President and Soeur Brown returned home and this week we got to meet President and Soeur Giraud-Carrier and their family. We got to go to Toulon for the conference and we walked in and there were some guys filming. I was a little confused and then we found out that they have been filming our mission President for the past 6 months because they are making a documentary on Mormons in France. So I'm going to be on French TV! It was weird, but funny at the same time. The four of us missionaries in Nice were going to miss our train and we were trying to figure out what to do and the whole time we were discussing they were filming us. I guess they needed a little drama. We were finally leaving the chapel and they were following us. Once we got out they said, "hey could you guys do that again and I'll be outside so I can get a different angle". We laughed a little and we kind of missed our train because of it, hehe. Anyways, the Giraud-Carrier family is really nice and they are going to be doing great things here. Well, this is my last week as a missionary. I will be on the plane home next week! I have loved my time here in France. I have grown so much and I have met so many wonderful people. I have never been stretched so much in my life and I have never felt so much joy. I have never cried more from heartache and I have never cried more for joy. France will always be in my heart. My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has grown so much. I know He lives! He lives He lives He Lives!!! I know the Book of Mormon is true. I will see most of you next week Avec amour, Soeur Glazier

So many times we question whether or not it is the Spirit talking to us or if it is just us. At the beginning of my mission I thought the Spirit was going to lead me every step of the way. I thought that as I was walking down the street, getting on the bus, or standing in line at the store I would have the strongest impression ever that I needed to talk to a specific person. But I never felt it. I felt confused and wasn't sure what I should do. I wanted to do what Heavenly Father wanted me to do, but I didn't know how the Spirit wasn't prompting me. But as my mission went I realized that I didn't need to have those big promptings. As long as I was doing everything I was supposed to and being obedient, I would be accomplishing the Lord's work. We had set a rendez-vous with an amie named A... and we were trying to confirm our rendez-vous with her, but she wasn't answering her phone. After waiting for a bit, we decided that we were going to pass her anyways. We found her apartment and rang her door bell. Nothing. We rang it again, and still nothing happened. I was getting a little disappointed and I turned around to face the street that was perpendicular to the one we were on. When I did, I saw the back of this lady and I had the thought that it was her. But I didn't see her face, so I wasn't sure. Without realizing it I started walking towards and I called Soeur Jimenez to follow me. Apparently when Soeur Jimenez saw the back of this lady as well she had the feeling it was her. Next thing we know we are running after this lady down the street and we still didn't know if it was actually A.... As we got close we found out it was her. We were so happy, and were able to talk about the Restoration with her. It wasn't until after that I realized we were being lead by the Holy Ghost. I didn't feel any prompting or anything and I didn't even think to question if it was the Holy Ghost. But we were able to be lead without knowing it. It was a wonderful experience. And the other highlight was the baptism of S... and R... Cl...! The baptism was wonderful! It was so great to see them both in white. And their dad who got baptized 5 weeks ago had the opportunity to baptize them. I was so happy I got to be there with them. Overall the mission has been great, and it is starting to get hot here! Have a wonderful 4th of July!! - Soeur Glazier Exchanges with Soeur Lewis
This week was so busy!!! And we saw so many miracles! During the week we were calling potentials in our area book and one of them answered and said they wanted to come to church and that she was going to bring her husband. That Sunday we met her and her husband at church and they want to start taking the lessons!! We are so excited! Their names are A... and M....
Sunday in general was a miracle. We had so many amis come to church and so many members brought their friends. We will be meeting with them this week and we are so excited. We also have a baptism this weekend with two kids that we have been teaching. Their names are S... and R.... We are excited to help them prepare for it and everything. Even with all the miracles on Sunday, on the way to church we got a text from our amie O... saying that she had been thinking about it a lot and she didn't think she could ever be someone believing. When I read that my heart sank. We had been teaching her since last transfer and she was such a miracle. Whenever we taught her I could feel the spirit and she had even said she felt it. We tried calling her but she didn't answer. I was so worried. I didn't want her to just stop. When we got to the apartment I was praying and praying that she would answer us. She had come so far! I eventually came to the conclusion that she had her agency and that we did what we could. I didn't want to force her in anyway to take the lessons, but it was hard to see her leave. Then this morning she sent us a text saying that she could talk with us, and a bucket of hope went through me. We planned on just listening to her and relying on the Spirit with what we should say to her. She told us that she didn't feel motivated. There were times when she felt like she had faith, but she was going through a time where she felt like she didn't. As we listened, we shared with her that we all have those moments. There have been plenty of times on the mission where I didn't feel motivated and I didn't want to do it anymore. But I kept going, and that was what we told her. At the end of the call, she said she would meet with us again and will see how it goes. We can't give up! When we have hard times, we can't stop praying and reading the scriptures and doing the simple things. I love what elder Uchtdorf said, "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith" . Heavenly Father is there with you every step of the way. And He loves you very much :) - Soeur Glazier We had MLC this week so we took the journey to Lyon. It was our last mission conference with President and Soeur Brown. :( Since we are not having a zone conference this transfer, all of the missionaries leaving at the end of this transfer got to come and we had the opportunity to share out testimonies. As I was sharing my testimony, I couldn't help think about where I was about a year and a half ago. I have changed so much, haha! For the conference we also talked about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of the restoration everything changed. We have so many blessings because of the restoration like temples, the sacrament, knowledge of the plan of salvation, the Book of Mormon and so much more! We were also told to make sure we share the First Vision in Joseph Smiths own words. The next day we had a lesson with an ami that we met from Arizona. We planned on sharing the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since it was in English I quickly tried to memorize the first vision in English. When we were giving the lesson and it was time for me to share Joseph Smith's experience, I started to cry. I felt the Spirit testify to me that it did happen! Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. I know He did! Actually before that, I said a prayer to Heavenly Father, asking for a confirmation if Joseph Smith truly was a prophet. I had prayed before but we were invited to pray again to strength our testimony. In that lesson I received that confirmation that he truly was a prophet. So I want to invite you all to pray (whether you already have or not) to know if Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and Jesus Christ. We had some other great lessons this week with our amis O..., A..., M..., and others that we had met throughout the week. We have also been trying to clean our apartment and in the process we found two lizards on our balcony and we played a game trying the keep them out of the apartment. We also had a ward talent show and lots of amis came and members even brought friends! Woah!! - Soeur Glazier The 120 group! (Those heading home in July) President said "Hey let's dab." We made mango salsa
I have learned a lot of things on my mission. One of the lessons I have been learning in Nice is patience (hehe). We have so many great amis and I love them all so much, but I feel like they are not moving fast enough. They will follow the commitments we give them, but they either feel like they haven't gotten an answer or they are not ready to make a big commitment like baptism. It was frustrating me a little this week. I just wanted them to have faith and go for it. Everyone is different and we need to help everyone differently. But one day I know they will be ready. We are doing everything we can by praying, studying and preparing for lessons, sending them messages, etc. In PMG in ch.6 it talks about Christ-like attributes and one of them is patience. When we are patient we have trust in the Lord's timing. This is His work and all we can do is be an instrument in His hands.
Besides that, we had a fun week of seeing our amis and meeting people and eating good food! It have been with Soeur Jimenez and I think my Spanish is starting to get better, haha! It is also starting to get warmer here. When I was told I was going to Nice I thought it would be really hot, but it hasn't been bad at all. It's starting to get warmer, but at least we have the nice ocean breeze. One of my favorite things here is the ice cream! Since we are so close to Italy we get some gelato, so it's almost like I served in Italy too, hehe! Overall, it was a busy week from running to one place to another, and that made coming back to the apartment at night really exciting. Well, that's it for this week! Love you all! This week started off so well! We had a lesson with an ami that the missionaries in Germany found and she is so cool! She told us that she prayed one day wanting to know more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and then she met the missionaries. Our first lesson went so well. She was telling us at the end of it that when she prays and reads the Book of Mormon she feels something good, but different. She likes it and that she realizes that it is the Holy Ghost talking with her. Her name is O.... and she is amazing! We also met with this little girl who wants to be baptized. Her mom is less active and wants nothing to do with the church. She hasn't taught her daughter anything, but the grandparents have taught her and taken her to church. One day the little girl (A...) said she wanted to get baptized. The mom said she could and thought they could do it in the Catholic church. But A... says she wanted to get baptized in the Mormon church. So we met with them and before we started the lesson she was telling us about how her grandpa was going to baptize her because he has the priesthood. She is going to help her mom so much. Because she wants to get baptized the mom is starting to bring her to church so the mom has come to church. I can't wait to see how everything goes for that family because of A.. and her faith. We had some other great lessons throughout the week that went well. I love our amis so much!! I will have to write more about them all soon. The members are also amazing!! Even with all the good things, we had some rough times. We had a lesson with a lady I met on the bus and I had so much hope for her. The lesson started and it was going very well. But then she started to tell us that she doesn't understand why good people suffer. We then shared our testimonies with her about the the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation and how even in hard times we know He is there for us. She got so made at us and said, "you really believe that?! How could you??! I don't. How can you say that??" And she started to go on about how we were wrong to say that. We continued to share our testimony with her, but she continued to get mad. I left that lesson feeling really sad and down. Not because she hurt my testimony or anything. That thing that was the most sad to me was that we were sharing a message of hope and joy to her, and she didn't even want it. Thanks to Jesus Christ we know that He has experienced everything we will go through in this life. Thanks to Him I know that I can live with my family again and that this life is not the end. Thanks to Him I am able to find joy in repentance. As I sat at church on Sunday, I couldn't help but look around at all the members and amis. They have found joy through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and you can see it in there face and how they act. There is so much joy that my heart is full. Even though the lesson was hard, I am grateful for it because it helped me realize just how much joy I have from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For a little update, we had transfers and I will be staying in Nice but I have a new companion named Soeur Jimenez and she is from Columbia. So I guess I have another transfer to work on my Spanish Love you all and have a great week! - Soeur Glazier A.. We accomplished one of our mission goals and celebrated by making a giant sundae. Most of our zone. Just Corsica was missing. End of 11th transfer. Now starting my 12th and final transfer. A.. and her family A member, P.... He teaches us yoga With our ami M... and her family Us with our amis E... (left) and Kà... (right) after an activity with the Young Single Adults Dinner with a member
This week started with a miracle! There is a family that has been meeting with the missionaries for a year, and the dad said he wanted to get baptized! He said he finally received a testimony and he knew he needed to be baptized. He got baptized this Saturday and it was one if the most special baptisms that I had been to. The mom and the kids said they were not ready, but you could tell they really felt the Spirit at the dad's baptism. While I was sitting there listening to the talks and watching him get baptized, I kept thinking about how wonderful this gospel is. It makes me so happy! It also gave me an eternal perspective of it all, because I know that one day the mom and the kids will be baptized and they will be sealed as a family. Before the baptism we were doing a little cleaning in the church with some members. Soeur Ortiz and I were having a great time mopping, until we saw a lot of water. We were so confused, until we realized the baptismal font was flooding. We ran and got the elders and we were all in the water with mops, buckets, rags, and whatever else we could find to clean all the water up. The baptism ended up starting a little later than planned... Before we got to the church for the baptism, we were on the bus and this lady sat next to me and she said, "hello". My first thought was, "how did she know I speak English? I hadn't said anything! "Turns out she had met the sisters on the bus before. She was asking me questions about how I was liking it and everything. We then started to talk about families and how it can be hard to have a family in today's world. She was then telling me that I had it easy, because I belong to a church. Because I have a belief I am provided a way and I have help with all the other members. But she didn't have anyone and she had to do it all on her own. So I asked her if that was something she wanted. To belong somewhere and to be helped along the way and provided a way. She shared with me how she wasn't believing because when she went to church they always made her feel like she had to feel guilt. She felt like it wasn't suppose to be like that. I then testified to her about repentance and how it is something positive. It is a chance for us to change our life and become more like our Savior Jesus Christ and how grateful I am for what he did for me and the chance that I do have to repent. After sharing my testimony she said she had to get off the next stop, but she wants to meet with us and talk more. I am so excited to meet with her!! It was so cool to see the power of a testimony. Your testimonies are so powerful! Keep doing the things to help them grow! That's my week...or my Saturday. But the rest of the week was good, Saturday was just the highlight. Love you all!! - Soeur Glazier Zone Conference Exchanges
This week started off with Zone Conference! We were able to drive to Lyon with some others Soeurs, so we got to have a little road trip. This conference was our last zone conference with President and Soeur Brown, so it was all bitter sweet. I am so thankful for them and everything they have done. I have learned so much from them, so it was sad to say good bye.
We also had some amazing miracles this week! During our Sunday school class we were talking about the Holy Ghost, and the Cl... parents were there. In the class the dad told everyone that he finally had a testimony, and the spirit was so strong as he shared his experience. Right after church he met with the bishop and told him that he wants to get baptized this Saturday! It was a miracle because they have been amis for such a long time. But the mom and the kids said they are not ready yet, but we are hoping that they will have a change of heart soon. We are so excited!! That Sunday we also had some random people walk Into the church at different times because they were interested, so that was really cool. We got to give them church tour. We also gave one of our amis Em... a church tour and we gave her a Book of Mormon and she said she thinks it is time for her to pray and to read and to find out if it is true. A lot of random things happened too. We were at a bus stop and we saw all these fancy black cars pass that were being led by police officers so we figured it was someone important. We also noticed that the streets were covered in British flags so we joked that Prince Harry was getting married in Nice. Later we found out that Prince Charles was actually here, so I think it's safe to say that I saw Prince Charles. We were also asked to help some people move this week. They were picking us up in this moving truck with the elders and we go over expecting to see seats, but instead they threw us in the back with all the stuff. We ended up getting in and we felt that was what it's like to get kidnapped. It was fun! Anyways, that is all for today! Oh wait, we went on this cool hike today! Enjoy the pictures!! - Soeur Glazier Hello hello!! This week we were busy busy bees. We were running everywhere and we were getting lost everywhere! We would go to an appointment and then have to go to another one and we would get lost, and that repeated over and over again. But it's ok, because now I know my area even better! While we were lost we even found an actual !Mexican restaurant! We visited a family we are teaching named the Clé.... and they taught us how to make these yummy treats from Brazil. They are these chocolate balls made with condensed milk, chocolate and sprinkles. I have no idea how to spell it, so just know that it is really good! Speaking of the family Clé..., they are really cool. They have been seeing the missionaries for about a year now. We were talking with her as we were making the treats and she told us that they had no desire to be baptized and they had no desire to go to the temple. That was rough, because we couldn't figure out why they didn't have that desire. They are doing everything that they have been invited to do, but to be baptized. After the lesson, Soeur Ortiz and I were talking and trying to figure out what we could do. Sunday rolled along and as usual they came to church. But this Sunday was not like any other Sunday for them. After church they were telling us how they came with some questions, and all the talks that were given were answers to their questions. The dad said, "I finally have a testimony". It was so cool! As missionaries we can do everything we can, but all we can do is invite and help. Since the Clé... met the missionaries, the missionaries were doing everything they could to help them, but the Clé... had to find out for themselves and work for it. Such a cool experience, and we are excited to help them to continue to work towards baptism.
Last Sunday we decided to fast with one of our amis who missed her baptismal date because of the law of chastity. Her ex husband was still living there and he was having a really hard time finding another apartment, so we all decided to fast together. During the week we get a call from her that he left. It was so cool to see the power of fasting, so we are going to help her get ready for baptism! Overall things are going super well and I am so happy! We had a very stressful week, but I have found so much peace through studying the scriptures and coming to church to partake of the sacrament. Hope you all have another wonderful week!! - Soeur Glazier We had a great start to the new week by going to our mission leadership conference! This transfer we are focusing a lot on working with the ward council and the members. Members play such a big part in helping investigators progress and to continue to progress after baptism. They are also a great source for finding those who are ready to hear the gospel. So we took that message and went back to Nice ready to work with the members. With Soeur Yee On at MLC We contacted an ami in our areabook and we set a rendez-vous with her and we invited a member to come. At first she said she just wanted us to help her learn English. But we continued to talk with her about the gospel and she opened up more about her religious background. In the end she said she wanted to meet with us again, and she was really happy that we had a member with us. The member helped us so much! I don't think she would have wanted to keep meeting with us if the member wasn't there. Later in the week a member invited us to lunch with one of his friends who is not a member. We went to this nice French cafe area, and the food was so good!! His friend was also really nice and we shared a little message with her. We talked to the member later and he said he is going to invite her to church! One of the highlights this week was.... the Albanian family that I taught in Bordeaux got baptized!! I was so happy!! Seeing pictures with them in white made me so happy, and I am so excited for them to continue forward and work towards going to the temple. Today for p day we got permission to go to Monaco. It was so beautiful and I don't think I have ever seen so much money in my life!! So many yachts and the Monte Carlo casino is very nice. We got to go in the lobby, hehe! We were also on the hunt for Rihanna, but we never found her. I also felt like such a normal person because we are not allowed to wear our plaques there. So I kind of know what it will feel like in 2 1/2 months!!!! Eek!!
Love you all and have a great week!! - Soeur Glazier |
